Emily Ratajkowski embraced Venetian-inspired footwear for the 2024 Met Gala, both for and after the event. She chose cream-colored René Caovilla Chandelier Sandals for the main event and later transitioned to a black pair of René Caovilla Chandelier Sandals for the after party, proving the gladiator look is one of the many early aughts trends coming back into style.
The René Caovilla high satin chandelier sandals, which are made in Italy, feature matching rhinestones and hanging crystals, similar to a chandelier. The heels also feature a spiral at the ankle with a snakehead terminal that wraps up the leg, giving a gladiator effect. The high satin chandelier sandals have a 4.1-inch heel. The elegant shoes retail at $2,600 on the René Caovilla website. Other shoes with a similar Gladiator style are the Giuseppe Zanoti Super Harmony Sandals and the Stuart Weitzman Nudistcurve Leather Gladiator Sandals, which retail at $229.

René Caovilla was established by the Italian fashion designer of the same name in 1934, positioning it as one of the oldest luxury footwear brands internationally. The company is a family-operated enterprise, with René’s grandson, Edoardo Caovilla, stepping into the role of creative director in 2013.
“My mantra is to always look forward,” Edoardo told Forbes in 2015 when discussing the brand’s legacy. “We mix tradition with innovation, craftsmanship with technology. Thanks to this approach, we can continue to create contemporary and unique shoes according to the season trends, while still remaining the youngest Creative Director and COO of the oldest company of the industry which strongly suggests our potential for the future.”
